Susan Bogen, Pottery
I first started working in clay 40 years ago. The tactile feel and the spatial forms that the clay can take on has always drawn me in. Even when I took an 18 year break from making pots, I was always studying, collecting and keeping up with the Ceramics world. For the last 12 years, it has again become my life passion. I especially love functional pots that beg to be picked up and held. The fact that a pot is pleasing to the eye as well as the touch is great. Asian pottery has always had a strong influence on my work, as does ancient Islamic pots. I love the way geometric design and nature interact in these works. I strive to integrate form and design into my own work. Having studied first Japanese and then Chinese brush painting over the years, I now often use my porcelain forms as canvases. My work is made of porcelain and Stoneware. I fire both in a gas reduction kiln to cone 10 and in a wood-fired salt kiln. All pots are food-safe, dishwasher and microwave safe.
Lisa Feidler, Art Glass Beads and Jewelry
Mostly a self-taught artist, Lisa Ehrich-Feidler has been creating all types of arts and crafts most of her life. Though she holds a B.S. in Business Administration and an A.A.S. in CADD, art is her true life's passion. Drawn strongly to the ethereal, mystical quality of glass and gems, Lisa seriously pursued her passion in the summer of 2008, finding herself enrolled in several glass workshops that would give her the basics to allow her creativity to blossom. Exquisite art-glass beads and her accompanying jewelry are the vehicles through which she chooses to express her artistic voice. Lisa's work is distinguished by her use of lively, whimsical bold colors, sparkling dichroic glasses, various semi-precious stones and metals, and vintage glass and crystal components. She also incorporates her own art glass beads in many of her pieces, creating designs that are a delightfully edgy departure from typical, and include a wide range of styles. Lisa is available to teach the art of strung or wire-wrapped jewelry in her home either privately or for groups of up to 5. One on one lessons are available for glass bead making.
